Liontrust Asset Management PLC ('the Company') has been informed that
Liontrust Trustees Limited, on behalf of the Company's Employee Share
Ownership Plan ('the ESOP'), acquired 1,404 ordinary shares in the Company on
5 September 2001 at a price of 345.0p per share and 2,223 ordinary shares in
the Company on 28 September 2001 at a price of 230.0p per share ('the
purchases').

Andrew Yates, a director of the Company, is a participant of the ESOP and will
benefit from the purchases. The purchase increases his interest in the share
capital of the Company by 279 ordinary shares, taking his total holding to
479,781 ordinary shares, representing approximately 1.46 per cent. of the
ordinary issued share capital of the Company.
