Parallel Media Group plc adds TCL Classic to Asian Golf Portfolio
The Board of Parallel Media Group plc ('PMG' or 'the company') announces that
its Asian subsidiary, Parallel Media Golf (Asia) Ltd has signed an agreement
with China's leading consumer electronics brand, T.C.L. Industries Holdings
(H.K) Limited ('TCL'), to promote and stage the US$1million TCL Classic from
2005 through 2007.
The TCL Classic will be played at Yalong Bay Golf Club in Sanya, Hainan Island
southern China, from March 17 - March 20, 2005 and carries the sanctioning of
the European Tour and Asian Tour and full support of the China Golf Association
('CGA').
The addition of the TCL Classic to the European Tour International schedule
brings the total number of professional men's tournaments promoted by PMG in
Asia to five, making the company the largest independent golf promoter on the
European Tour.
PMG is also expanding further into Asia by promoting and staging two new
tournaments which will take the Ladies European Tour into the region for the
first time; this weeks Samsung Ladies Masters Singapore, which marks the KLPGA's
(Korean Ladies PGA) debut outside Korea, and the Thailand Ladies Open March 31 -
April 3 2005, an event jointly sanctioned by the newly created Ladies Asian Golf
Tour. As a result of today's deal, the company is now the largest independent
golf promoter in Asia.
