World Sport Group Announces Senior Appointments
World Sport Group plc, the leading sports media, marketing and management
company, today announces that it has made two senior appointments following
the restructuring of the Group's operations.
Robert Bland, 54, has been appointed President World Sport Asia Pacific.
Since joining the television industry in 1971, he has held many sales
positions in various Broadcasting companies in both Australia and England. In
1980, he became joint Sales Director of Nine Network in Australia. In 1986,
he joined Sky Channel (fore-runner of BskyB) as Sales Manager, responsible for
sales in Europe, US and Asia, becoming Sales Manager for Europe with it became
Sky. In 1990, he co-founded Eurosales, the exclusive sales representation
company for Eurosport across Europe and to whom the business was sold in 1993.
In 1994, he was employed as Director of Sales for STAR TV, responsible for
all advertising revenue across all channels worldwide. In 1999, he was
employed as Managing Director of TV BV Netherlands - a joint venture between
Fox BC and Fox Kids Europe. He took over the operation six months later and
significantly increased its revenues and ratings prior to it being sold to SBS
Netherlands. In 2000, he joined Parallel Media Group as the Managing Director
of the Group worldwide, with responsibility for all aspects of the Group's
advertising sales and strategy. In 2001, following the merger of Parallel
Media Group and World Sport Group, he joined the board of World Sport Group
plc as Director of Sales and Marketing.
Jonathan Spink, 41, has been appointed President World Sport Europe/Africa.
He joins World Sport Group from Liberty Media, the American-owned media group,
for which he worked for ten years. Jonathan has extensive experience in
sports media, particularly in Asia where World Sport Group has a dominant
position. Whilst working for Liberty, he spent five years in Tokyo developing
and running Liberty's Golf Network (a 24 hour channel) and the three-channel
operation J Sky Sports. Prior to this, he worked for Liberty in London
developing its sports distribution business and worldwide channel business,
later sold to News Corporation. He started his TV career at Sky Television in
1985, holding various positions including Head of Sponsorship and Head of
European Sales for Eurosport.
Commenting on the appointments, David Ciclitira, World Sport Group's Executive
Chairman, said:

Asia and Europe and will enable us to maximize our strengths in these areas.
Robert and Jonathan are extremely experienced and we are delighted that they
