Trading Statement

World Sport Group PLC 30 January 2002 Date: 30 January 2002 On behalf of: World Sport Group plc ('World Sport Group') Embargoed until: 0800hrs World Sport Group plc Highlights • Successful completion of strategic review and restructuring following merger of World Sport Group Limited and Parallel Media Group International Limited resulting in increased operational efficiencies, • More conservative treatment of long-term contracts • Group positioned as gateway to Asia • Award of three-year television production contract for all international cricket in India • 60% of revenues for 2002 already visible The Board of World Sport Group, a leading sports media, marketing and management company, today announces that it has successfully completed the strategic review and restructuring of the Group, referred to in its statement of 26 November 2001. World Sport Group has reorganised its business into two operating divisions - World Sport Asia Pacific and World Sport Europe/Africa. As expected, this reorganisation has resulted in the reduction of the Group's cost base and increased operational efficiencies through the rationalisation of staffing, the merging and relocation of the Group's Asian offices in Singapore, and the closure of its New York offices. In addition, the Group has disposed of its non-core music business, Broadcast Innovations. The Group expects to release the results for the six months ended 31 December 2001, its first period as a public company, in April 2002. These results will reflect events and decisions taken in December 2001: • A more conservative treatment on the assignment of revenue on the two recently signed AFC and certain long-term cricket contracts. As a result, circa £600,000 less revenue will be taken in 2001 which will now be spread over the remainders of the contracts; and, • The loss of profits of circa £200,000 in relation to the termination of a three-year commercial rights contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka ('BCCSL') (Note 1). The Company is seeking damages from BCCSL in the Singapore courts (where the contract was executed). Consequently, the results will be broadly in line with the lower end of market expectations. Trading in the current year has started positively with contracted revenues of over 60 per cent of the Group's forecast for 2002. Whilst World Sport Group has decided to take a more prudent view of television advertising revenues (which currently represent just under 10% of its forecast revenues), the Directors are encouraged by the start to the year. An example of this enthusiasm is evidenced by World Sport Nimbus' recent award of the television production contract for all international cricket in India replacing the incumbent, Channel 9, from Australia. The Board expects the current year to be a significant improvement on 2001 as the world's focus on sport in Asia increases, in particular as a result of the forthcoming World Cup in Japan and South Korea and the growing interest in golf in the region. The Group is increasingly being viewed as a 'gateway to Asia' and intends to leverage upon its dominant position and the strength of its infrastructure in the region, in particular through joint ventures. Additionally, the Board will continue to focus on acquisition potential in Europe. - Ends - For further information please contact: Emma Kane, Chief Executive Tel: 020 7955 1410 Redleaf Communications Mob: 07876 338339 Notes to Editors: • Note 1 - All major sports rights contracts, with the exception of this one, are with regional sports bodies such as the Asian Professional Golfers' Association (Asian PGA) rather than those in individual countries. • World Sport Group plc (WSG) listed on AIM on 15 August 2001, following the reverse takeover of Orchard Furniture plc by the combined businesses of World Sport Group Limited and Parallel Media Group International Limited. • The Company offers a full one-stop shop for advertisers and sponsors: television programming, airtime sales, outdoor marketing opportunities, Internet services, exposure in print publications and bespoke event management plus sponsorship in football, cricket, rugby and golf. • WSG's ownership of media and marketing rights includes the Asian Professional Golfers' Association (Asian PGA) for 90 years and rights to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) events until 2009 (with matching rights to 2013).
