LLOYDS TSB GROUP APPOINTS NEW GROUP EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

UK RETAIL BANKING

Eric Daniels has been appointed to the Board as Group Executive Director, UK
Retail Banking. Having spent over twenty years in a range of key roles at
Citigroup/Citibank, Mr Daniels, 50, brings a wealth of experience and a strong
track record in retail financial services.

Mr Daniels was Regional Head of Citibank's consumer business in Europe and was
Chief Operating Officer of Citibank's global consumer bank. Prior to leaving
Citigroup he was Chairman of Travelers Life and Annuity. Since leaving
Citigroup last year, he has been Chairman and CEO of Zona Financiera, a
leading Latin American financial portal that provides consumers with
independent financial advice.

Peter Ellwood, Chief Executive of the Lloyds TSB Group, said:
