                       APPOINTMENT OF ALTERNATE DIRECTOR


The Board of Lookers plc announce the appointment of Mr Richard Gaskin as
alternate Director for Mr N Clyne, a Non-Executive Director of the Company.


Mr Gaskin aged 38, is the Managing Director of GE Capital Woodchester UK.  An
MBA Graduate at Henley Management College, he has substantial experience of the
Auto Finance Industry with Lloyds Bank, 3M, Ford Credit and General Electric.


Mr Gaskin, who joined General Electric in 1999, returned to the UK from
Switzerland in November 2003 in order to take up the present position of
Managing Director of GE Capital Woodchester UK.


There are no matters requiring disclosure under paragraph 6F.2(b) to (g) of the
UKLA Listing Rules with respect to Richard Gaskin.
