Appointment of a new Director

Lookers announces that following the retirement from the Board of Directors of
Mr Graham J Morris as a non-Executive Director at the conclusion of the Annual
General Meeting of the Company held on Thursday 12 May 2005, the Board have
appointed Mr John E Brown F.C.C.A. C.T.A. as a non-Executive Director of the
Company from today. He also becomes Chairman of the Audit Committee

John Brown is a certified Accountant with 40 years experience in finance and
management. He is currently Chairman of Voller Energy Plc and investor relations
consultancy Scott Harris Limited as well as Chief Executive of Speedy Hire Plc
until his retirement in July this year. During his career at Speedy Hire the
business has grown from one outlet to a National network of over 320 locations
and is the market leader in its field of operations. He is also a member of the
North West Economic Panel of the Bank of England.

The Board are delighted that John has agreed to join them and are confident that
his extensive financial experience at senior management level and proven
business acumen will be of considerable benefit to the business in his role as
an independent non-Executive Director.
