                        NOTICE OF PRELIMINARY RESULTS

Lookers plc, a leading national operator in the UK's retail motor industry,
will be announcing their 2001 interim results on Thursday 30 August 2001.

Lookers primarily deals in new and used quality cars and enjoys strong
partnerships with many brands including Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari
Maserati, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Lexus,
Audi, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall, MG Rover, Renault and Nissan.

An analyst briefing will be held at 09.30am on the day at Hudson Sandler, 29
