NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTEREST IN SHARES

In accordance with the Disclosure Regulations, Lookers plc (the Company) hereby advises that it was informed on 21 July 2009, that following a transaction on 20 July 2009 Barclays PLC through the following legal entities held 22,693,457 ordinary shares of 5p each in the Company, representing approximately 12.49% of the Company's issued share capital: 

Barclays Global Investors Ltd

Barclays Stockbrokers Ltd

Walbrook Trustees (Jersey) Ltd

All shares are voting shares, one vote one share and the issued share capital of the Company on 21 July 2009 was 181,670,573 ordinary shares of 5p each.
