We have been advised today by Mr P A Fletcher, the chairman of the
Company,  that  he has exercised, on 1 March 2000, his  option  to
purchase 105,000 shares of Rowe Evans Investments PLC at the grant
price  of 57p per share. He has sold 60,000 of the shares  arising
from  the  exercise at a price of 67p per share thereby  retaining
45,000 shares.

Mr Fletcher's interests in the issued share capital of the Company
are now as follows:

MR P E HADSLEY-CHAPLIN

We  have  been advised today by Mr P E Hadsley-Chaplin, a director
of the Company, that he has exercised, on 1 March 2000, his option
to  purchase 140,000 shares of Rowe Evans Investments PLC, at  the
grant price of 57p per share.

Mr Hadsley-Chaplin's interests  in the issued share capital of the
Company are now as follows:
