TO COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENTS OFFICE

We have today been advised by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited that they have
purchased on 25 August 2000, on behalf of Aberdeen Asian Smaller
Companies Investment Trust PLC, 1,680,000 shares representing 3.47% of
the issued share capital (previously nil).

In addition Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited have purchased a further 600,000
shares on 25 August 2000, on behalf of discretionary funds under
management. The total number of shares now managed by Aberdeen Asset
Managers Limited and its associated companies is 6,885,000 representing
14.23% of the issued share capital (previously 9.51%).
