The Company have been advised that Mr R Clarke, a Director of the Company,
acquired on 3 October 2001, 12 Ordinary shares of 10p each (representing 0.0%
of the issued class of capital) at a price of 244p each. The shares were
acquired pursuant to the re-investment of tax credits, through the Majedie PEP
Scheme.


Mr R Clarke is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 13,020 shares,
representing 0.02% of the issued share capital.



The Company was also advised that Mrs M Ritchie, the wife of a Director of the
Company, acquired on 3 October 2001, 11 Ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 244p each.
The shares were also acquired pursuant to the re-investment of tax credits,
through the Majedie PEP Scheme.


Mr Ritchie is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 15,105 shares,
representing 0.03% of the issued share capital.



Furthermore the Company was advised that Mrs M Reid, the wife of a Director of
the Company, purchased on 10 October 2001, 378 ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 263p each.
The shares were purchased pursuant to a regular standing order, through the
Majedie share plan.


Mr Reid is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 6,417 shares,
representing 0.01% of the issued share capital.
