The Company was today advised that Mrs MEW Reid, the wife of a Director of the
Company, purchased on 7 November 2001, 370 ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 269p each.
The shares were purchased pursuant to a regular standing order, through the
Majedie share plan.

Mr Reid is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 6,787 shares,
representing 0.01% of the issued share capital.
