MAJEDIE INVESTMENTS PLC

The Company has today been advised that on 24 January 2002 Sir John K Barlow, a
Director of the Company, sold a total of 50,000 Ordinary 10p shares in Majedie
Investments PLC (representing 0.095% of the Company's issued Ordinary share
capital) at a price of £2.68 per share.

As a result of this transaction, Sir John K Barlow's beneficial interest has
reduced from 2,878,186 to 2,828,186 Ordinary 10p shares (representing 5.36% of
the Company's issued Ordinary share capital). This beneficial interest includes
holdings within certain Trusts where there are other beneficiaries.

Non-beneficial interests of Sir John K Barlow remain at 1,231,205 which
represents 2.34% of the Company's issued Ordinary share capital.
