                           Purchase of Own Securities

Man Group plc announces that on 22 September 2006 it purchased for cancellation
2,000,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 426.12 pence per ordinary share.

Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2006, Man has repurchased
18,800,000 ordinary shares at a total cost of £74.9 million, giving an average
repurchase cost of 398.62 pence per ordinary share.
