AGM STATEMENT

At the Annual General Meeting today, 24 May 2005, Mr Graham Holden, Chief
Executive of Marshalls plc, the specialist Landscape Products Group, will
provide shareholders with the following update on trading:

'Revenue from continuing operations on a like for like basis for the first four
months of 2005 was at a similar level to the previous year. Revenue from
acquisitions was in line with expectations.

In the domestic market, installer order books are currently at 9.5 weeks. This
compares to 10.3 weeks at the same time last year.

On 6 July 2005 we will provide shareholders with our usual half year trading
update prior to the announcement of our Interim Results on 9 September 2005.'
