Marshalls PLC
13 June 2003
MARSHALLS PLC
DIRECTORATE
Mr R A Barfield has resigned as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.
We have previously indicated that we are seeking to appoint two new
Non-Executive Directors, and now hope to be in a position to announce the
appointments in a few weeks' time.
These events may lead me to delay for a short period my already announced
decision to step down as Chairman at the end of the year, but will not affect
our plans to split the role of Chairman and Chief Executive, with Graham Holden,
currently Chief Executive of our Landscape Products Division, becoming Group
Chief Executive at the beginning of 2004.
At our recent Annual General Meeting I told shareholders that sales in the first
five months of the year were comfortably ahead of what was a period of strong
trading during the same months of 2002. On 4 July 2003 we will be providing the
Market with our usual half year trading update.
