Marshalls plc announces that Mr John Marshall has decided to retire at the
conclusion of the Company's Annual General Meeting to be held on 10 June 2004.

John Marshall has been with the Company for the past 41 years and a Main Board
Director for 32 years. He has made a very valuable contribution to the business
especially through his knowledge and understanding of our production facilities.

His fellow Directors wish him a long and happy retirement.
