Marshalls PLC
6 November 2000
The Board of Marshalls Plc today announces management changes at Board level.
Graham Holden, currently Group Finance Director and head of Emerging
Businesses Division, will replace Philip Marshall as Chief Executive of the
Landscape Products Division. Graham's responsibilities for the Emerging
Businesses Division will be assumed by Blair Illingworth who will also
continue as head of the Clay Products Division.
As a consequence of these changes Philip Marshall will step down from the main
Board and will be leaving the Group today.
Christopher Burnett remains as Executive Chairman and the Company is
recruiting a new Finance Director in due course.
Commenting on today's announcement Mr Burnett said:-
'these actions are necessary to ensure that the Group successfully delivers
the benefits from the changes we are implementing in the structure of the
Landscape Products Division through the creation of Regional Service Centres.
I will continue to work closely with Graham and Blair to see that we deliver
on our plans and protect our strong market position'.
Commenting on current trading and the outcome for the year Mr Burnett also
said:
'it will come as no surprise that in common with much of our industry the
extreme and adverse weather conditions in the United Kingdom are causing a
slow down in commercial deliveries and a premature end to the domestic selling
season. This should have a modest impact on our expectations for the current
year, however our expectations for 2001 remain unchanged.'
