Martin Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc
Stock Exchange Announcement - 30 October 2003
The Board of Martin Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc ("the
company") notes the publication of the Investment Entities (Listing
Rules and Conduct of Business) Instrument 2003, following consultation
paper CP164. It also notes the Stock Exchange announcement of Martin
Currie Capital Return Trust plc ("MCCRT") - in which, as at 28 October
2003, the company had 11.3% of its gross assets invested - that it may,
at some point in the future, have more than 15% of its gross assets
invested in other UK-listed investment companies. The company is thus
not in a position to add to its investments in UK-listed investment
companies, that do not declare the 15% limit, until its investments in
MCCRT and other UK-listed investment companies, that do not declare the
15% limit, fall, in aggregate, below the level of 10% of gross assets.
