Yesterday's announcement 'Martin Currie Portfolio Investment: Purchase
of Own Securities', timed at 16.46, had an incorrect date and should
read:

Martin Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 3 April 2003, has
bought back 50,000 ordinary shares at a price of 60.5p per share for
immediate cancellation. Following this purchase 299,270,830 ordinary
shares remain in issue.
