In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6 we
would like to notify the market of the following:
Martin Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc's capital consists of 144,755,042
ordinary shares of 5p with voting rights.
Martin Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc does not hold any shares in
Treasury, therefore the total number of voting rights in Martin Currie Portfolio
Investment Trust plc is 144,755,042.
The above figure (144,755,042) may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculations by which they determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, Martin Currie Portfolio
Investment Trust plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
