Martin  Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 11 July 2007, has bought  back
150,000  ordinary  shares  at  a  price of 127.7500p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 143,122,886 ordinary shares remain in issue.
