Martin  Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 12 July 2007, has bought  back
27,000  ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of 128.5000p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 143,095,886 ordinary shares remain in issue.
