Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 02 January 2008,  has  bought
back  510,000  ordinary shares at a price of 135.8480p per share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 137,649,807 ordinary shares remain in issue.
