Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 18 March  2009,  bought  back
45,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  83.75p  per  share  for   immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 133,512,824 ordinary shares remain in issue.
