Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 27 March  2009,  bought  back
100,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  85.775  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 133,375,011 ordinary shares remain in issue.
