Martin  Currie  Portfolio  Investment Trust plc, on 1 April  2009,  bought  back
50,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  83.50p  per  share  for   immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 133,225,011 ordinary shares remain in issue.
