Martin  Currie  Portfolio  Investment Trust plc, on 6 April  2009,  bought  back
99,595   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  87.50p  per  share  for   immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 133,037,343 ordinary shares remain in issue.
