Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 28 October 2008,  has  bought
back  43,591  ordinary  shares at a price of 81.4264p per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 135,152,877 ordinary shares remain in issue.
