Martin  Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 30 June 2008, has bought  back
12,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  125.25p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 136,200,756 ordinary shares remain in issue.
