Martin  Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 1 December 2009,  bought  back
28,000  ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of 112.6633p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 118,175,797 ordinary shares remain in issue.
