Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 17 August 2009,  bought  back
67,013  ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of 100.4981p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 121,004,585 ordinary shares remain in issue.
