Martin  Currie Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 30 October 2009,  bought  back
20,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  107.00p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 119,118,630 ordinary shares remain in issue.
