Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 16  June  2009,  bought  back
25,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  95.25p  per  share  for   immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 132,801,171 ordinary shares remain in issue.
