Martin  Currie  Portfolio Investment Trust plc, on 16 March  2010,  bought  back
53,000   ordinary  shares  at  a  price  of  122.27p  per  share  for  immediate
cancellation.

Following this purchase 115,483,802 ordinary shares remain in issue.
