At the Mears Group Annual General Meeting held today June 6th 2001 at the
London Offices of Old Mutual, Chairman Bob Holt gave the following trading
statement :
'I am pleased to confirm that the Group is ahead of management expectations
currently with an order book in excess of £100 million. The Group continues to
seek out earnings enhancing acquisitions. The Group has been awarded a
partnership contract by Thanet Community Housing Association (TCHA) to provide
a range of maintenance services. The contract has an indicative spend of £1.6
million per annum and is for an initial period of 5 years. The contract allows
for a continual rolling 5 year period based upon successful performance. The
Group has enjoyed a contractual arrangement with TCHA since 1995 and the new
contract award is seen as a model for this type of contract available within
the social housing and Local Authority sector.'
