MEARS GROUP PLC - SHARE PRICE MOVEMENT

The Board of Mears Group PLC has noticed the recent fall in the share price
and the significant volume of shares traded in the last few days. The Board
confirms that its order books have never been higher and that the company
continues to prosper and win new contracts at enhanced margins. The Board
wishes to state that it looks forward to announcing the interim results on 3
September 2001, the prospects for the Group have never been better and that
the Directors are still confident that current trading is in line with market
expectations.
