                        APPOINTS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Mercury Group PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Anthony
Russell as Non-executive Director to the Board with immediate effect.

Stephen, aged 37 years, a chartered accountant, is currently Finance Director of
Consensus Business Group Limited ('Consensus'), which is managed by Vincent
Tchenguiz and which is responsible for a number of residential and commercial
property interests, including a commercial property portfolio with gross assets
of approximately £4 billion.

Commenting on the new appointment, David Williams, Chairman, said,

'We are delighted to welcome Stephen to the Board as a Non-executive Director
and look forward to his contribution as we continue with our exciting
development of the Group.'
