              DYNACAST ACQUISITION OF 'Q-ZIP DIECASTING' BUSINESS


The Board of Melrose are pleased to announce that Dynacast Canada Inc has
acquired the business of Q-Zip Diecasting Inc ("QZD") based in Quebec, Canada
from Fasco Die Cast Inc for £5.9.m (C$12.6m) which will be paid in cash.

QZD specializes in the manufacturing of precision zinc die casting components
and has gross assets of £5.2m (C$11m) and profits attributable to the business
prior to any synergies are £0.6m (C$1.2m). This acquisition is expected to
improve the profitability of Dynacast Canada's operations.
