The Board of The Mercantile Investment Trust plc announces the retirement of Mr Charles Peel and The Right Honourable The Earl of Halifax as Directors of the Company with effect from the conclusion of the Company's forthcoming AGM on 23^rd May 2012.

The Board wishes to thank Mr Peel and Lord Halifax for their extensive contributions to the Board during their tenure and wishes them all the best for the future.
