MONTPELLIER GROUP PLC (the 'Company')
Holding in Company
The Company received notification today, 29 June 2005, in accordance with
sections 198 to 202 of the Companies Act 1985, that as of close of business on
21 June 2005, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc ('GS Inc') was interested, by
attribution only, in a total of 1,825,500 Ordinary 10p shares in the Company,
representing 3.05% of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.
Of these 1,825,500 shares:
a) The interest in 500 shares arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs &
Co., a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc, acting as custodian for
its customers. These shares are, or will be, registered in the name of
Goldman Sachs Securities (Nominees) Limited.
b) The interest in 1,825,000 shares arose from a beneficial interest held by
Goldman Sachs International, a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of GS Inc.
These shares are, or will be, registered at CREST in account CREPTEMP.
