Purchase of Own Securities

The Company announces that on 26 July 2001, pursuant to the authority granted by
shareholders at the extraordinary general meeting of the Company held on 7 March
2001, it purchased from the market 485,000 of its own ordinary shares of 10p
each at a price of 25p per share.

Following the above purchase there are now 65,589,390 ordinary shares in issue.
