YJL plc is pleased to announce that at the Extraordinary General Meeting held
on 31st of July 2000 shareholders approved the disposal of the business and
certain net assets of Birchwood Concrete Products limited to Hanson for the
approximate price of £8,500,000, payable in cash on completion.  The
transaction is expected to be completed within the next seven days.  The
proceeds of the disposal will be used to enhance YJL's net cash position by
repaying borrowings where appropriate, with the balance to be held on deposit
in order to finance the development of YJL's continuing business and may,
subject to such appropriate opportunities arising, be used to help fund future
transactions.
