Appointment of Managing Director to Brick Manufacturing Operations

Michelmersh Brick Holdings plc (AIM: MBH), the specialist brick, land development and landfill company announces the appointment of Mike Thomas as Managing Director of its brick manufacturing operations, as part of a restructuring of the Group.  

Michelmersh announced on 29 September 2008 that the Board has undertaken a review of planned future production at each of the Group's production facilities and is adjusting resources and the organisational structure appropriate for anticipated market conditions. Michelmersh's brick making operations have a key market position and reputation for excellence within the UK brick market. Despite the difficult current market conditions the Board sees significant opportunities to build upon its position in it market.

Mike Thomas, 52, is a manufacturing expert with experience over a diverse range of international operations. Recently he has had roles at Anglian Windows and Texon International. Mike will have responsibility for the Group's brick manufacturing activities at Blockleys, Charnwood, Duntons and Michelmersh.

The Group has implemented cost savings of £3.3million which will impact in 2009, as previously reported. Mike's appointment will enable a concentration of effort on further productivity measures in the brick business and give the current management team the time to concentrate on developing the landfill operations and accelerating land development planning thereby increasing value of the substantial land resources across the Group.

Commenting on the appointment Martin Warner, Chief Executive said 'Mike's addition to our team will strengthen management to position our brick business for the current market conditions and to take advantage of future opportunities.'
