YooMedia PLC ('YooMedia' or 'the Company')
Appointment of Non-Executive Director
YooMedia is pleased to announce today the appointment of David Docherty to the
position of Non-Executive Board Director.
Docherty, a regular columnist for Media Guardian, recently left Telewest
communications where he was Managing Director of Broadband. He was responsible
for the development of a range of broadband content and services, particularly
focused on health, games and entertainment. He continues as Chairman of Living
Health, the NHS-funded project, Network Games Co, a project with Sony, and new
ventures including Vis-ITV and Start! Games, which exploits breakthrough
technologies.
Commenting on his appointment, Docherty said: 'YooMedia is pushing out the
boundaries of what you can achieve on interactive television and we share the
same objective: to create highly innovate and engaging services that build
community through the TV. The company has strong relationships with the platform
providers, the industry and government and the development teams consistently
take a fresh approach to the challenges of the media. I'm really looking
forwards to working with them.'
On behalf of the Board, Michael Sinclair, Chairman and Chief Executive, said: '
David is a leading light in the media and digital industries. David's remarkable
and discerning knowledge of the industry brings invaluable experience to the
Board of YooMedia. His appointment represents a significant endorsement of our
current strategy and focus of the business.'
Prior to Telewest, Docherty was Deputy Director of Television, Director of New
Media and a member of the Board of Management at the BBC. Docherty is well
known as the man behind the Corporation's drive into digital media. He was the
director responsible for the development, launch and ongoing editorial and
financial control of UK Gold, UK Style, UK Horizons, UK Play, UK Drama, BBC
