YooMedia plc ('YooMedia' or 'the Company')
Ground breaking deal with NTL Home
YooMedia today announced an agreement with NTL Home, the UK's leading cable
company, to distribute all its products on its digital interactive cable
platform, which include Cartoon Network, Games and Chat channels, and Dateline
services.
NTL Home customers will soon have access to one of the largest portfolio of
interactive TV games, an advanced 24/7 chat system and the most established and
well known dating service in the UK. The agreement will see YooMedia's entire
suite of services including an interactive games and chat portal, Cartoon
Network and Dateline all launch on NTL Home digital cable service later this
year.
Andrew Fearon, YooMedia's Chief Operating Officer says: 'It has always been our
strategy to deliver multiple products across all digital platforms in the UK.
This deal sees all our products launch on NTL and demonstrates the value of high
quality content for companies like NTL. All these products will eventually be
available throughout the UK to all digital TV users.'
Andrew Fearon continued to say, 'It is our intention to continue delivering the
best in interactive entertainment to the digital viewer. Our distribution across
all UK cable channels is a strong foundation from which to develop more cable,
satellite and DTT orientated channels and allows for more interaction between
cable subscribers.'
YooMedia and NTL Home have agreed to work together to launch the entire suite of
Yoomedia products on its platform in the next eight months. YooMedia's games and
Cartoon Network games will be the first to launch. The new games portal will
bring Tetris and Solitaire to viewers. The new chat service will enable NTL Home
cable customers to access one of the most sophisticated chat systems available
on interactive TV and they will also be able to chat to subscribers on other
cable platforms.
Cartoon Network will also launch on NTL Home with branded pay-per-play games
including the Tom and Jerry Cheese Chase game and The Powerpuff Girls game
alongside editorial pages, jokes, tips on gameplay, cheats and competitions. The
games are accessible directly from the Cartoon Network channel, using the red
button on the subscriber's remote control, making it the first red button games
portal on the platform.
Leigh Bennett, Director of TV at NTL Home comments: 'The deal gives NTL
customers access to a large portfolio of games and community building products
such as chat. YooMedia is totally committed to interactive TV and has developed
a superb range of really unique and engaging content. This is more great news
for NTL customers.'
According to Andrew Fearon the deal is the result of YooMedia's focused product
development as well as a unique partnership approach with strong brands which
concentrates on creating channels, games and chat events that complement the
digital TV demographic.
