RELATIONSHIP FORMED WITH LIBERATE TECHNOLOGIES
e-district.net plc ('e-district'), the AIM-quoted owner and
developer of LeisureDistrict.net, a leading interactive family
entertainment and community channel, has agreed a development
and content partner relationship with Liberate Technologies
('Liberate').
Based in San Carlos, California, and quoted on NASDAQ,
Liberate is a leading provider of a comprehensive open
software platform for delivering Internet-enhanced content and
applications to a broad range of information appliances
including television set-top boxes, game consoles, smart
phones and digital assistants. Liberate has formed strategic
alliances with leading technology vendors such as Cisco
Systems, Inktomi, Lucent Technologies, Netscape, Oracle and
Sun Microsystems, and is cuurently deployed with Cable and
Wireless and Telewest in the UK.
e-district and Liberate will work together in enhancing the
delivery technology for LeisureDistrict and Liberate will
also promote LeisureDistrict as ready made content for
delivery into interactive TV distribution channels which use
Liberates technology
This latest agreement follows recent announcements which
included a UK distribution agreement with Cable & Wireless
Communications plc, a sharp growth in registered users and
page impressions in the first quarter of 2000 and an
interactive digital production agreement with Unity Pictures.
