Mourant & Co. Trustees Limited, as Trustees of the Company's Employee Benefits
Trust, bought 83,496 Mitchells & Butlers Ordinary 7 1/12p shares on 8 December
2003 at 231.38p per ordinary share.


The balance held in the Trust is now 905,495 shares.


The Executive Directors of the Company, M.Bramley, T.Clarke, A.Hughes and
K.Naffah, as potential beneficiaries under the Trust, are deemed to be
interested in the above purchase.
