                                TREASURY SHARES

The Company holds a balance of 757,988 Mitchells & Butlers ordinary shares as
treasury shares following the exercise of savings related options over 27,467
shares at prices ranging between 209p and 401p per share.

As a result of the above, the number of shares in issue, excluding shares held
in treasury is 403,021,705 ordinary shares.
